Here, children’s creativity takes center stage. Inspired by the stories and wonders of nature, young artists are invited to share their own drawings, paintings, and creations. This gallery is a space to celebrate curiosity, imagination, and the joy of exploring the natural world. Each piece of art tells a story—from foxes and forests to wildflowers and mountain skies—and together they create a community of little adventurers learning to see the world through both art and wonder.

Throughout the exhibit and website, you’ll find Young Explorer prompts — little green boxes with themes inspired by nature, animals, and Appalachian stories. Choose the prompt that excites you most, then let your imagination run wild!I have been creating art for over 10 years, specializing in oil paintings and charcoal sketches. My work has been featured in several local galleries and exhibitions.
Explore any of the themes you find on the site or at the exhibit.
Make your own drawing, painting, or artwork inspired by that theme.
Have a parent or guardian email a photo of your art to artbykatvonhacke@gmail.com along with your first name, age, and prompt you chose.
Your art may be featured right here in the Young Explorers Gallery and shared on our social media, so your creativity can inspire others!

The Young Explorers Gallery will officially open online in early November, after the close of the exhibition. That’s when you’ll see all the amazing artwork from kids and teens featured right here on this page.
Every submission will help build a colorful collection that celebrates curiosity, creativity, and adventure. We can’t wait to showcase your vision of the natural world and share it with our community!
