Kat von Hacke is a mixed media artist whose work is a love letter to the natural world and the quiet stories it holds. Using alcohol markers, watercolor, ink, and pencil, she creates soulful illustrations of animals and plants — especially foxes, a recurring symbol of memory and connection.
Born with a deep love for nature and art, Kat studied at the University of Georgia’s art school, where she honed her skills before life led her down other paths. It wasn’t until years later, at the urging of her father — a man rooted in the mountains of West Virginia — that she returned to her art. After his passing, foxes began to appear in her work as a way to process grief and stay connected to his spirit.
Today, Kat lives and creates in the Appalachian region, where she shares her life with her husband and two white German Shepherds, Rainier and Katahdin. Her inspiration comes from long walks through forests, quiet moments in wild places, and a deep belief that Mother Nature still speaks — and through Kat’s hands, her whispers become art.
Through her work, Kat invites others to slow down, feel more deeply, and reconnect with the wild beauty that lives both outside and within.
